During the Summer months, we have been very busy.
In June we received the results of our CQC inspection with AbbeyCare rated Good and Sabrina house rated Good with Outstanding in response to residents.
As if that wasn’t exciting enough our fund raising for the sensory table really took off. Staff got into the spirit of it all with one of the cooks at Sabrina having her head shaved and two of our carers in the community and our other cook completing a sky dive!
During this time we embraced technology by moving forward with our Care plans and by using an electronic system we are now paper free. The system proves to be both user and environmentally friendly.
Our activities continue to provide enjoyment and variety, we have;
Grown our own Peppers
Made puppets
Given Advice to our Younger selves
Had singing sessions
And made Candy Floss to name but a few.
The Residents of Sabrina have recently set up an in-house shop, which stocks everything from toothpaste to crossword puzzles! It is proving to be very popular and the residents enjoy being responsible for it themselves.
As we moved towards the end of the year we held a ‘Spooky Party’ with the theme of Superheroes. Lots of fun was had by all, young and old. Our funds were raised even more. We enjoyed a morning of pumpkin carving and lots of lovely food and games.
To mark Thanksgiving day we celebrated with American food trying such delicacies as; Pulled Pork, Chicken wings and Coleslaw, it was very well received by all.
During December Sabrina staff performed the Twelve Days of Christmas for our residents, dressing up in costumes and having a really good time. Our visiting singer Maria – Louise Browning joined in too. Maria – Louise has been calling regularly on Thursday afternoons and the residents enjoy her sessions.
To end the year on a huge positive we were delighted to finally purchase the Sensory Table for the residents, it has made a huge difference and brought great enjoyment.
